Criminals can be insanely dumb but a guy out of Garden Grove takes stupid to a whole new level.
(Not our perp but as Jeff Foxworthy would say, "that's his sign")
This comes to us from the Garden Grove Police Department Facebook page:
I live in Garden Grove and street racing is a big issue out here.
Nearly every other night, testosterone-laden young men in Challengers, Chargers, Mustangs and assorted rice rockets test their latest mods. The locals who are trying to get some sleep and the families that are just trying to safely navigate Brookhurst Avenue and not get T-boned by some racer are decidedly less than interested in the competitions.
Most of these kids think they’re Dom, Brian and Letty but in reality they drive like Larry, Moe and Curly.
Now, I’m not going to say when I was a young lad back in the day, I didn’t have a go in my Chevelle for bragging rights on the occasional weekend, but things were way different then. What we tried to sneak off to do on secluded streets and parking lots in rarely traveled parts of town has been replaced with intersection takeovers and drag races on insanely busy boulevards in the middle of a city of 180K. Most of these kids think they’re Dom, Brian and Letty but in reality they drive like Larry, Moe and Curly. Thus, the Garden Grove PD is hyper vigilant about such things and are constantly out and about in search of the Fast and Furious wannabes.
It is in this climate that our latest Mensa candidate makes his appearance.
At 10:30pm this guy decided that doing burnouts in a truck on Katella Ave., (a street that leads directly to Disneyland’s main entrance 4 miles away), WITH 5 KILOS OF COCAINE behind the seat, was the thing to do on a Sunday night.
That’s right, in a city that actively publicizes aggressive enforcement of reckless driving/street racing, this guy assumed the lowest profile he could achieve while transporting $125K of coke is to do burnouts on one of the busiest streets in the city.
We diligently prepare to defend ourselves against the evil in the world but sometimes we get lucky enough to watch the idiots do all the work for us.
